### **1. The Lie You've Been Told About Electrolytes:**
If you know anything about improving your appearance or have any exposure to this space, you have probably seen the thousands of videos on 'how to debloat'. The common thread of information that they preach is to lower sodium to almost nothing and to consume heinous amounts of potassium. The supposed train of thought is that because salt retains water and potassium does the opposite, you should simply decrease one and increase the other. THIS COULD'NT BE MORE WRONG. You see, by manipulating these minerals in this way, you throw off the finely tuned balance that your body needs in order to thrive and thus appear good looking.
**1.1. Why the Normal 'Debloat' method is Wrong:**
Here is why the normal 'Debloat' method is flawed: When sodium levels are low, aldosterone production increases to help retain sodium in the body. In short, if you decrease the sodium you eat, your body will simply retain more of it because sodium is so essential to the body. This can lead to an increase in cortisol production as well, because both hormones are part of the adrenal stress response system. Increased cortisol leads to even more water retention (often things like 'moon face') and also lowers your testosterone, worsening your fat stores and thus worsen's appearance even further. Similarly, the opposite is true. By constantly loading up on potassium, your body starts to excrete it through your urine whilst subsequently also excreting out other essential minerals and trace minerals. If you follow this method, you will quickly find yourself bloated and deficient in key molecules, resulting in a grey and limp complexion.

If you have been on a low-sodium diet, you will likely be very resistant to sodium, and hence will be bloated for the first 7-14 days of increasing your intake. You just have to firm being bloated for this stage, and know that afterwards you never have to worry about sodium again, especially if you fix insulin resistance. This is because if you overconsume sodium and are adequately sensitive, your body simply excretes the excess.
