2. Chewing for Gut Health(腸の健康のための咀嚼)

### **Chewing Your Food Properly: The First Step to Good Gut Health**
Digestion begins in the mouth, and proper chewing is essential for gut health and nutrient absorption.
**The Role of Chewing in Digestion:** When you chew your food thoroughly, you break it down into smaller particles, making it easier for your stomach and intestines to digest it and extract the nutrients. Chewing also mixes food with saliva, which contains digestive enzymes that begin the process of breaking down carbohydrates.
**How to Chew for Optimal Gut Health:** Make a conscious effort to chew your food thoroughly—aiming for at least 20-30 chews per bite. Eating slowly and mindfully allows your gut to send signals to your brain that you are full, helping prevent overeating and promoting that better nutrient uptake. If your body is getting the nutrients it needs, you will feel less hungry, and so can consume fewer calories (get leaner over time).
